Karnataka is popularly knows as “One State Many World”, so you can see all kind of nature here including seasons. There are many places to visit in Karnataka in Summer, but in this blog i’m listing out my best 5 places which i feel better. Here we go.
List of 5 places to visit in Karnataka in Summer
1 Chikmagaluru

Chikmagalur is located 230 km from Bangalore. This is one of the best tourist places in Karnataka all the time, especially on monsoon it will be filled with heavy rain and fog. But don’t worry, it is also good to visit in summer.
Chikmagalur is famous for coffee. It is popularly known as land of coffee or coffee land of Karnataka. Also it is famous for hill stations, popular hill stations of Karnataka which belongs to Chikmagalur are Mullayanagiri, Baba Budangiri and Kemmangundi. Chikmagalur belongs to malnad region and western ghats starts from this area.
Best places around Chikmagalur : Mullayanagiri, Baba Budangiri (Datta Peeta), Kemmangundi and Z point in Kemmangundi. There are many other places but I feel these are good at summer. These places will definitely won’t disappoint you after visiting.
Briefly description about the places in Chikmagalur :
Mullayanagiri is the highest peak of Karnataka with a height of 1,930 metres (6,330 ft). The most visited and famous place in Chikmagalur. It is also the best trekking place.
Baba Budangiri is one of the major attraction in Chikmagaluru and pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Muslims. Every year for “Datta Jayanti” celebrations 1000’s of people come from surrounding places with orange flag. A very special thing in this mountain is Unique flowers called kurinji blooms in these hill once every 12 years. At that time complete hill will be filled with flowers. Next is expected in 2018 as last seen on 2006.
Kemmangundi is one of the best Hill Stations along with Mullayanagiri peak and Baba Budan Giri. It is 1434m above sea level. Kemmannugundi derives its name from three Kannada words – Kempu (red), mannu (soil) and gundi (pit). It is also known as Sri Krishnarajendra Hill Station, as this was the summer retreat of Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV.
Z-point in Kemmangundi – The main attractions of Kemmangundi are Raj Bhavan, Z point, Rock garden, Hebbe Falls and Kalhattagiri Falls. Kemmangundi is popular for trekking and adventure activities. The sunset view from Raj Bhavan is amazing in this hill. Z point is a steep uphill trek of about 45 minutes from Raj Bhavan.
2 Madikeri

Madikeri is located 265 km from Bangalore. Popularly named Scotland of India. Madikeri is also part of Western Ghats, so famous for some hill stations. It is popular destination for tourist and a good 2 day trip from Bangalore.
Like Chikmagalur even madikeri is famous for coffee. The hill stations, waterfalls and thick forest areas attracts lot of visitors hence the popular destination in Karnataka. Thandiyandamole, Brahmagiri and Pushpagir are some of the trekking activities.
There are many places to see in Madikeri, suggest for 2 to 3 days trip. But in this I will mention few places where you can visit even on summer.
Briefly description about the places in Madikeri :
Mandalpatti is a beautiful offroading hill. It is situated at an altitude of around 4050 feet. Mandalpatti is popularly known as Mugilpete(Mugilu Pete) which means Market of Cloud. It is the main attraction for tourists in madikeri, located 18kms from Madikeri city.
Talacauvery is located on the slopes of the Brahmagiri mountain ranges near Bhagamandala. This is the birth place of River Cauvery (Kaveri). Cauvery Kundike or Brahma Kundike which is a small tank where the river starts.
Dubare Elephant camp is an elephant training center situated on the banks of the river Kaveri. The elephants used for Mysore Dussehra are trained at this camp. Tourists can also watch elephants being given a scrub-bath in the river and can also feed elephants.
3 Agumbe

Agumbe is a small village located in the Malnad region of Karnataka. Exactly 357 km from Bangalore. It is sometimes called “The Cherrapunji of the South”. This is the place where we have highest rainfall in Karnataka. During monsoon it’s definitely heaven.
Kundadri and Kodachadri Hills very close to this place which are some famous trekking places and hill stations. Great thing about Agumbe is sunset view point
Sunset view point is just 10min walkable distance from Agumbe city, On a fine evening, the sunset can be seen over the Arabian Sea. During summer and winter the view will be best, but on monsoon it will be covered with clouds.
Why I felt this place is good in summer is even on summer temperature will be between 24 to 30 degrees Celsius.
There are many waterfalls around – Barkana Falls, Onake Abbi Falls, Jogigundi Falls, Koodlu Theertha Falls and Sirimane Falls, but all are best visited on monsoon.
4 Mysore

Mysore is one of the popular city in Karnataka and also a great weekend gateway. It is located just 150 km from Bengaluru. Earlier Mysore was the name of Karnataka. There is a huge history about Mysore.
Mysore is famous for its heritage structures and palaces, including the Mysore Palace. During the Dasara festival the city receives a large number of tourists from around the world.
Places to see in Mysore are many, infact there are more than 50 places to see. I would list few which you must never miss.
Places to visit – Chamundi hills, Mysore Palace, Brindavan garden, Mysore Zoo, Kokkare Bellur Bird Sanctuary and Srirangapatna
5 Shivamogga

Shivamogga is locaed 290 km from Bangalore. It lies on the banks of river Tunga. Because of famous hill regions of western ghats it is known as Gateway of Malnad. Surrounding the city you can see fields with variety of crops grown.
To talk about places there are n number of places here. One among the famous and popular one is Jog Falls. But Jog falls is recommended to visit in monsoon.
Places to see in shivamogga during summer – Kodachadri, Mandagadde Bird Sanctuary, Sakrebayalu Elephant Camp, Sigandur, Kavi Mane (Kuppali) and Bhadra Dam.
